Whiskey Sour | This Is Why I’m Full
The Hubby and I went through a phase when we first met 3 years ago where we drank nothing but Budweiser… I know, I know, but we were 24 and 22 respectively and it was cheap! The longer we dated the less appealing drinking cheap beer became, especially after we moved in together. We started exploring making drinks, not just pouring a bunch of crap into a glass to see how it would taste, actually making drinks you would order at a bar, because why go out and pay $10 when you can make it at home for so much cheaper!
We went through a couple of months where we made Old Fashioned(s?) all the time, but those tiny bottles of bitters would go so fast that we wanted to find something that was easier to make but still had a pleasant taste, and I thought why not a Whiskey Sour, but not just any ol’ Whiskey Sour, let’s make our OWN Whiskey Sour. So I found a bunch of recipes and took my favorite parts to make this delicious drink!
It took a couple of tries to get the mixture right, some were too sweet, some too sour and some WAY too strong (well, too strong for me, the Hubby likes them strong!) I like to taste the alcohol, but not have it overpower every other flavor!
The easiest way to make this drink is obviously to buy the mix and dump some in a cup, but I find this so much more refreshing, not to mention it’s a lot more fun! Making the simple syrup is just as the name suggests, simple. And while you can buy it online: Simple Syrup it is quite easy to make at home! You can also use pre-bottles juices instead of fresh squeezed but I personally feel that you can’t beat the taste of freshly squeezed juice!
So here you have it, my personal favorite way to make a Whiskey Sour at home! Quick question, the Hubby and I can never agree, do you spell it Whiskey or Whisky? My family is very Irish, and for us it’s Whiskey, but the Hubby spells it Whisky. I know it’s an Irish/Scottish difference, but I want to know how many people spell it one way or the other!
